Powers John's Lane Cask Strength Whiskey: A Celebration of Irish Whiskey History

Irish Distillers has announced the release of Powers John's Lane Cask Strength Whiskey, a new permanent expression to the Powers family. This twelve-year-old cask strength edition will be batch-released each year.

The whiskey is named after the original John's Lane Distillery in Dublin, which was founded in 1791. The distillery was a major producer of Irish whiskey in the 18th and 19th centuries, and its whiskey was sold straight from the barrel at cask strength.

Powers John's Lane Cask Strength Whiskey is bottled at 57.8% ABV, which is higher than the traditional 40% ABV for Irish whiskey. This allows the full flavor of the whiskey to be expressed.

The whiskey is made from a blend of pot still and grain whiskeys that have been aged for at least twelve years in first-fill American bourbon casks and a small portion of Oloroso sherry butts.

The nose of the whiskey is intense and complex, with notes of woodland aromas, worn leather, tobacco, treacle toffee, charred wood, cocoa, and pot still spices. The palate is full-bodied and flavorful, with notes of creamy vanilla, manuka honey, dried apricot, and black peppercorn. The finish is long and lingering, with a touch of sweetness.

Powers John's Lane Cask Strength Whiskey is a limited-edition release, so it is sure to be a popular choice among whiskey lovers. It is available now in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Dublin Airport, and online at MidletonDistilleryCollection.com

If you are a fan of Irish whiskey, then Powers John's Lane Cask Strength Whiskey is a must-try. It is a limited-edition release, so be sure to get your bottle soon.
