The latest edition of the Bushmills family has been released, expanding their range. The Bushmills Caribbean Rum Cask Finish is the first in the lineup of their new series, the Bushmills Original Cask Finish range.
Well what is it? The Bushmills Caribbean Rum Cask Finish features the award-winning single malt used in Bushmills Original Irish Whiskey, finished in hand-selected fine oak Caribbean Rum casks. It’s then blended with the brand’s signature triple distilled Irish grain whiskey to create tropical fruit and dry spice flavours.
Each cask comes from the Caribbean where they would have held a deliciously rich sweet rum. These casks have been hand-picked by the team at Bushmills selecting from local rum makers and then re-distributing them to Ireland. The rum itself was matured in these barrels for at least 7 years, giving mellow aromas and rich sweetness and spic to an already great single malt. As you can expect from rum cask finishes and Caribbean influences, it brings a host of tropical flavours to this Irish spirit. Tones of pineapple sweetness, caramelised brown sugar, rich toffee, and a smooth long finish.
